Molly, our 2022 Maule M9-260 is the aircraft we use for training. On top of the powerful performance it’s known for, we’ve found that the Maule offers exceptional water handling even with multiple passengers and stronger weather conditions while also offering a much closer experience to what you will end up flying if you pursue a career with many of the 135 carriers operating seaplane charters and tours. Most pilots feel right at home with the side by side configuration and familiar control layout similar to many other aircraft, and with floor to ceiling windows the visibility is unmatched by most planes in its class.
The amphibious floats not only let one get familiar with gear configuration flows while operating on the water, they also provide the option for developing skills landing and taking off from pavement and grass strips as well as ramping at boat landings, all while building better safety knowledge and overall aircraft management habits. This also makes refueling a breeze and keeps training moving at a consistent pace.
